So I recently posted a new story in the fan fiction section (non-MH section) and ran into a couple errors on the way. Figured I should mention them here.
The first I did eventually find a work around for.
I wrote the piece in Google Docs, and copy-pasted into the story box.
However, when saved a bunch of code was showing up at the beginning and end of each paragraph. Something like:
Code:
[Select]
[color=#000000][size=2][font=Arial]writing[/font][/size][/color]
I tried copying the text into notepad and then into the story box, but it was like making side scrolling tables and stuff.
I clicked the “view source” button at the top right of the text editing box (alongside other buttons). That revealed the weird code, which I could then delete.
However, the code was at the beginning and end of each paragraph, which would be a pain to sift through and delete… However, copy-pasting to and from notepad made it so the code only appeared at the beginning and end of the whole story, a lot less to delete.
In summary, the work around process is:
Copy-paste your stuff into notepad, then from notepad into the story text box, then click “view source” to show the weird code, and delete the weird code.
I ran into a similar issue with Word, but think the work around works there too.
Second issue is simpler.
I tried to delete a chapter of a story, but could not. It would bring me to the chapter edit page, and I couldn’t see how to delete it from there.
I tried setting the story to complete or not complete. I tried clearing out all the text but it would tell me “the chapter must have a story.”
One could work around this by just never adding too many chapters, or deleting the whole story and reuploading it. But yeah.
Just mentioning these as a heads up to any future writers. And in case LD finds herself bored with nothing better to do on a rainy day.
I realize they’ll probably take a bit of work to figure out.
For the record, I’d be content just using one of the forum pages for stories. Might help Kuriyan moderate and compact things (story, discussion and updates in one thread). And I think the forum has more text options to play with. Just a thought.
P.S.
Which forum should I post my story discussion topic in? "Creative Works Discussion" or "Creative Guild"? Thanks.
P.S.S.
It seems we can't change the title of the story once it's posted too?
